I had some filament stuck in the back of the nozzle.... took the head apart and cleared it out real nice... only now that I'm putting it together, I realize I should have taken pictures.

where are the assembly instructions?

It probably goes without saying, but Root owners should be extremely careful when attempting to heat the hot end in order to unclog the nozzle. While disassembling the print head assembly, I accidentally touched the spinning fan with the edge of the print head cover and blam: a broken fan. Whoops. Fortunately, 40mm fans are not expensive.

Ah.. yet another reason to remove the print cover before turning on the device.... Although one time or another, I must have put something in wrong, because now the fan hits the cover sometimes. sounds like it will wear itself thin soon. And if it stops working, well 40mm fans ARE inexpensive, like you said.
