Hot End Temperature Fluctuation

I've been monitoring the range of hot end temperatures  (which you can see by maximizing the size of the Germinate window while printing and looking in the lower left-hand corner of the window) and I'm seeing a larger than expected fluctuation on my Root. When printing at 196C, for example, it continually ranges between 189 and 201. This suggests to me a not particularly well optimized PID table in the firmware. Does anyone else see a similar (or larger?) range of fluctuation?

I have seen some temp fluctuation, but usually only when the heating element works its way out of the head.

I get fluctuations in the temp as well while printing... right there on the printer display, it will go from 185 to 205 when set for 190.
