3D software Empty 3D software

So what software to you guys use to build models? Google Sketchup is about as far as I have gotten. But it takes so much to get an .STL file out of it I would love to find some other options.

I use Blender. A small learning curve, but lots of help videos out there.

For beginners, I heartily recommend Tinkercad. Kids and adults alike can learn the essentials in less than an hour. 

Personally, I get a lot of use out of Meshmixer.

For cutting models and removing/fixing surfaces or triangles, I use Netfabb.
